Storms to blame for Metro cancelations, road closures
By KMOV Web Producer
(KMOV)-- Overnight tornadoes and storms are to blame for traffic headaches in the St. Louis area.
MetroLink service to Lambert Airport has been suspended until further notice, and westbound train service will end at the Hanley MetroLink station.
Crews have shut down other streets because of flooding, including Mo-AA in Festus at US-61, Highway C in St. Charles between Silvers and the Mississippi River, and Meramec Bottom is closed between Tesson Ferry and Hagemann.
St. Charles Rock Road is now reopened after it was closed in both directions between I-70 and Lindbergh due to downed power lines.
Several MetroBus routes in north St. Louis County have been rerouted because of blocked roads. Buses currently being rerouted are: #61 Chambers Road, #27 North County Shuttle, #36 Spanish Lake, #35 Rock Road, and #49 North Lindbergh.
Motorists are advised to avoid areas of severe damage if possible to allow workers and residents to clean their neighborhoods, and because of various traffic light outages.
Those using Metro services should expect delays. As roads reopen, MetroBus vehicles will resume their regular routes.
