GRANITE CITY, Ill. (AP) -- Cleanup wages on near southwestern Illinois' Granite City two days after at least one tornado hit the area, damaging more than 100 homes.

As of mid-day Sunday, some 800 southern Illinois homes and businesses served by utility Ameren Illinois still were without power.

In far southern Illinois, a suspected tornado Saturday was blamed for destroying a hangar and airplane at Cairo Regional Airport while destroying some trailer and modular homes nearby. In Massac County, the storm broke utility poles, downed power lines and damaged some structures.
