ST. LOUIS (AP) -- The St. Louis Cardinals switched starting pitchers due to a threat of rain, sending Miguel Batista to the mound instead of Kyle McClellan against the Cincinnati Reds.
The change was announced about 15 minute before gametime Friday night.
The 40-year-old Batista was making his first start since July 27, 2010, when he was an emergency fill-in for Stephen Strasburg with the Washington Nationals. Batista made the Cardinals, his ninth team, as a long reliever.
Batista was 1-0 with 1.29 ERA in five appearances covering seven innings. McClellan is 2-0 with a 1.89 ERA.
