HILLSBORO, Mo. (AP) -- An eastern Missouri man has been convicted in the shooting death of his daughter's boyfriend.
A Jefferson County jury on Thursday found David Fugate guilty of second-degree murder and armed criminal action in the death of 22-year-old Michael Crutchfield.
Fugate testified Wednesday that he shot Crutchfield in self- defense last year when Crutchfield pinned him to ground. Prosecutors questioned that, saying Crutchfield had been shot multiple times in the back.
The shooting happened moments after Fugate's 16-year-old daughter told him that Crutchfield had beaten her up.
