ST. LOUIS (AP) -- St. Alexius Hospital at Forest Park in St. Louis is ceasing operation of its emergency department.
The hospital said Monday it will end emergency department services on May 20, but it will continue to operate emergency services at its Broadway campus.
The Forest Park site is treating fewer than 15 patients on a typical day. The number of ER patients has dropped by about half since 2007.
Hospital officials say they are dealing with $24 million in lost revenue because of declining reimbursements and increased uncompensated care losses.
