Man charged in Metro East accident that killed 12-year-old girl

(KMOV) – A man has been charged in a car accident that left at 12-year-old dead near Fairview Heights Friday night.

Andrew M. Fraticelli, 20, of Collinsville, Illinois, was charged with two counts of Aggravated Driving Under the Influence and one count of Reckless Homicide.
 
The accident happened around 8:30 p.m. on Illinois 159 near Stonewolf Trail.
 
Police say Fraticelli was driving southbound on Illinois 159 in his Jeep Cherokee when he allegedly crossed into the northbound lane. According to officers, he hit a Ford Taurus head-on, crashing into Apryl Sherrod, 28, and her daughter Amari Clark, 12. Firefighters extricated both from the vehicle.
 
Emergency crews transported Sherrod to SLU Hospital for extensive injuries. Clark was taken to Cardinal Glennon, where she died Saturday morning.
 
Fraticelli was treated at Barnes Jewish Hospital for injuries to the head, face, and arms. He was released Saturday to Fairview Heights police.

Fraticelli is currently being held at the St. Clair County Jail. Bond was set at $250,000.
