(KMOV.com) -- Volunteers and local leaders were busy Saturday afternoon working on a variety of projects for "St. Louis Serves Day."
Volunteers focused on projects that could be completed in one day. Projects ranged from school and neighborhood beautification to exercising adoptable animals.
St. Louis mayor Francis Slay participated in today's projects. He helped walk dogs for Stray Rescue.
Americorps St. Louis, Mayor Slay's office and the United Way of Greater St. Louis organized the event to prove that St. Louis is a "city that serves."
