(KMOV) -- A Gillespie, Illinois man faces an involuntary manslaughter charge after police say his three-month-old died with a baby wipe in her mouth.
Richard Morgan, 27, was arrested on Wednesday.
His three-month-old daughter, Nevaeh Morgan, died on November 23, 2011. Illinois State Police say Richard Morgan was with the child in a home on Elm Street in Gillespie. Another adult, who is not the child's mother, was also home. One of them called 911 after Richard Morgan allegedly put the baby wipe in the infant's mouth. The child was pronounced dead at the hospital.
Illinois State Police won't comment on whether Richard Morgan gave a reason for allegedly placing the baby wipe in the child's mouth.
In a statement, the Macoupin County State's Attorney wrote, "It is further alleged that Mr. Morgan put a baby wipe in the mouth of his daughter and unintentionally killed her".
If convicted, Richard Morgan faces up to 14 years in prison. He is currently on parole for a theft conviction, according to the Illinois Department of Corrections.
