LOS ANGELES (AP) -- Classes will be canceled for two days at an elementary school where two teachers face allegations of lewd acts with students, and the Los Angeles superintendent of schools is planning a meeting with troubled parents.
LA Unified School District spokeswoman Monica Carazo says Superintendent John Deasy will meet with parents Monday night at a high school near Miramonte Elementary, where classes are canceled Tuesday and Wednesday.
The closure is related to the arrested teachers, but Carazo was not certain what would take place or whether school staff will be brought in.
Thirty-year veteran teacher Mark Berndt was charged last week with committing lewd acts against 23 students, some as young as 6.
Four days later another teacher, Martin Springer, was arrested on suspicion of fondling two girls in his classroom.
