(KMOV) – The exit ramp from Interstate 55 at Loughborough in south St. Louis is being scrutinized by city officials for further safety improvements, after an accident Sunday. Last summer, a baby was killed in a wreck where a driver flipped her car after coming off the exit ramp.
Last year, the city of St. Louis worked with MoDOT to put up barriers, a warning sign and even reduced the speed limit of the off ramp, to improve safety for drivers. Neighbors who live near the off ramp say cars continue to exit too fast for their own good.
Officials say Sunday’s accident may be to blame for the ramp’s warning sign being destroyed. The cost for a replacement is $5,000.
