MARYLAND HEIGHTS (KMOV) – Two men are in jail after assaulting a police officer outside a Maryland Heights Dave & Buster’s and starting a police chase Thursday night.

One of the men, 20-year-old Dorwin Overall, who was out on bond after he allegedly tried to strike two police officers with a car in August 2011, is now accused of using a pickup truck to injure a Maryland Heights officer. He’s charged with assaulting an officer first by taking a swing and then when he got behind the wheel.

20-year-old Derrick Wilson is also being charged for assault.

The two men were escorted by the officer after the first assault in Dave & Buster’s restaurant. Police say one suspect got into his truck and tried to ram the officer. The officer was hit by the truck but not seriously hurt. The incident led to a police chase when the suspects tried to flee the scene.

The high-speed chase continued from Dave & Buster’s, down I-70 to Lucas and Hunt and then West Florissant where the suspects crashed the vehicle.

Police say they are relieved no one was injured badly by the whole incident, including the officer.

Both men are currently behind bars.
