(KMOV) – A police-involved shooting in St. Louis on December 20 is being investigated by federal officials.
An officer allegedly shot a man to death at point-blank range as the man begged for his life.
Attorney Albert Watkins is filing a federal lawsuit on behalf of the family of deceased 24-year-old Anthony Smith.
According the Watkins, the police officer shot and killed the unarmed victim then tried to cover it up with the help from his partner. Watkins wants to subpoena the audio and video evidence of the shooting that occurred after a car pursuit and crash.
The St. Louis Police Department and the Federal Bureau of Investigation have partnered to see if excessive force was used by the officer.
