(KMOV) -- I talked to Darrel Bowlin who puts on a job fair in the St. Louis area every quarter.  He says the first one of the year happening Thursday has more variety than he's seen in some time.

Very different companies offering jobs with a variety of experience requirements and salary levels are going to be at this fair from 10am to 2pm at the Doubletree Hotel in Maryland Heights.  All the details and the list of companies hiring is right here

Bowlin says, "Rolling into 2012 we've seen a sharp increase in not only the number of positions that are available but at the same time the number of employers that are hiring so it looks like we're seeing an upturn in the positions available as well as the economy overall."

He says people who come to the fair should be ready to impress recruiters but don't expect a job offer on the spot.
