GRANITE CITY, Ill. (AP) -- The Madison County coroner says a Granite City man who collapsed while in police custody died after suffering a heart attack and a stroke.
Coroner Stephen Nonn says an autopsy found 56-year-old Shannon Walsh Sr. died of natural causes.
Walsh collapsed on Jan. 19 after being arrested by Granite City police on traffic violations. He died five days later.
Nonn says he's still waiting for the results of toxicology tests, which could reveal whether drugs or alcohol factored into Walsh's death.
