Belleville police investigating two weekend burglaries

(KMOV.com) -- Police in Belleville, Illinois are investigating two weekend burglaries that occurred blocks away from each other and were reported within the same hour.
Police said the first burglary was reported around 10:21 a.m. at an apartment in the 100 block of North 44th Street. The second happened at a home in the 300 block of North 40th Street at 10:57 a.m.
News 4's Mark Schnyder talked to police Tuesday morning, but the sergeant was not able to say if both burglaries were related. In the first case, the burglar got into the apartment through a bedroom window. It is not known how the burglar got into the second home.
Police said it is possible the people who live at the addresses got home around the same time and the burglaries were hours apart, but because of the geographic proximity and the time they were reported, there's a good chance they are related. Authorities said they are looking for the same person in both cases nonetheless. They did not give a description of the suspect or say what or if anything was taken from either location.
