(KMOV) -- Everyone has their story.  Everyone.  Where they were.  What they were doing.  What day it was.  What the weather was like.  Even what they were wearing when they found out they were being brought up to the Major Leagues.

It's a story they'll remember for the rest of their lives and one they'll tell people forever, including their kids and their grandkids.

Kolten Wong's is a little out of the ordinary.  Normally, it's a simple call into the manager's office who says they're being summoned to whatever city the big league team is in and that's it.

But for Wong, the Cards first round pick in 2011, his didn't go that way.  Not at all.

"I was actually sleeping and I heard a knock on my door," Wong said.  "It was 9 o'clock.  So I go and open my door, I look and I see (Memphis manager Pop Warner) there and I say 'hey, what's going on?'.  And he says 'hey, can I come inside?'.  I said 'absolutely'.  So he came inside and told me I was getting called up and I looked at him - and I was still half asleep - and said 'you're joking with me'.  And he said 'no, you're actually going up'.  So he left and I started talking to my parents and tears started coming out."

Wong also says he didn't even have time to say goodbye to his teammates because he had to get on a plane so quickly to get to Chicago.  But he believes it's an experience he'll remember for the rest of his life.
