(FootballStL) -- The heat was on in Earth City. With temperatures peaking near 90 degrees, tempers flared at Rams Park.
Linebacker Jo-Lonn Dunbar, Tight End Jared Cook, and Defensive End Chris Long were involved in a team scuffle during practice. "No punches were thrown, but yet everyone was calling it fight," said Long.
Was the heat a factor for the scuffle?
"Yeah, it was," said Head Coach Jeff Fisher. "Occasionally, in camp those things happen. It’s kind of one of those deals. I think most of you at some point have said to me, Gosh…this is amazing weather for training camp, right? Well, today it got warm, OK? And they had pads on, and that's what happens and that's good. We need to work through that.”
Fisher added; "You don't want anybody to get hurt and that kind of stuff. They jump in there and they had more fun pulling apart than they do mixing it up.”
Other Camp Notes:
Rookie Running Back Zac Stacy returned to practice after nursing a calf injury.
Rookie Receiver Tavon Austin was excused from practice for personal reasons.
Wednesday is the last public practice that will be held from 3:30 to 5:30.
