FARMINGTON, Mo. (AP) — An eastern Missouri woman has been sentenced to 10 years in prison for trying to hire a hit man to kill her estranged husband.
The Daily Journal newspaper in Park Hills, Mo. reports that Annette Burnia, 39, of Park Hills was sentenced Friday after pleading guilty to attempted second-degree murder.
Prosecutors say Burnia solicited a relative to kill her husband, but instead, he contacted police. An undercover officer posed as a hit man and Burnia paid him $200 to kill her husband, Kevin. She also promised to give the hit man her husband’s boat and NASCAR collection.
