(KMOV) – The St. Louis County Police Chief has issued a letter to the county executive after an official has been accused of attempting to gain possession of confidential information.

Chief Fitch wrote the letter to County Executive Charlie Dooley following the FBI investigation into the $3 million contract for the St. Louis County Police Crime Lab construction.

The chief asked the FBI to look into how a contract was awarded to a company co-owned by a member of the police board who Dooley reportedly appointed.

Fitch sent the letter to Dooley accusing one of the county officials of attempting to pry confidential information from a police lieutenant colonel.

In the letter, Fitch said, “Attempting to circumvent the usual course of law enforcement investigation is at the least, an unethical and unprofessional."

Dooley responded with a letter saying the officer was not being asked to divulge any confidential information.

Chief Fitch was also asked by Dooley why he had missed a couple of meetings.
