(KMOV) – Police say they have arrested a man who left behind a trail of blood after robbing a cell phone store in O’Fallon, Missouri on Friday.
David Declue II, 25, was charged Saturday with second-degree burglary, first-degree property damage and felony theft.
According to police, Declue used a crowbar to smash out the front door of the Cricket Wireless store in the 8600 block of Mexico Rd.
He then used it to break in the front window, cutting his hand in the process and leaving blood at the scene.
Authorities said Declue removed a lock from the back door of the business, went inside and took $3,000 and receipts from the register before fleeing the scene.
Police arrived to the scene and found the crowbar and glass covered in blood. They located Declue nearby a short time later. Authorities said he was wearing the same clothes as the suspect seen in surveillance video.
Police said he suffered several cuts and was in possession of $1,270 in blood-soaked cash. Officers later found bloody Cricket Wireless receipts in the squad car after his arrest.
According to police, Declue did about $1,000 worth of damage to the store.
