ST. LOUIS -- Former and current NBA players are leaders of a partnership that has purchased 30 Wendy’s restaurants in the St. Louis area.
The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports that Detroit Pistons point guard Chauncey Billups and former NBA player Junior Bridgeman are heading a group called BB St. Louis LLC. The purchase of 29 existing and one under-construction restaurants from Dublin, Ohio-based Wendy’s closed on Monday.
Bridgeman is Wendy’s second-largest franchisee. He has an ownership stake in 196 Wendy’s restaurants. Billups is making his first foray in the restaurant industry.
Terms were not disclosed. Wendy’s has more than 6,500 franchise and company-owned restaurants around the world.
