(KMOV) –A man accused of murdering a clerk at a St. Louis County gas station on Saturday night has been arrested, Major Case Squad officials tell News 4.
According to police, officials tracked down the 29-year-old suspect on Tuesday and searched his home in Bellefontaine Neighbors. That’s when police said they found clothing that matched what was seen in surveillance video.
Police said the suspect then confessed the crime to officers.
Authorities said they were applying for murder, robbery and armed criminal action warrants Wednesday morning. His identity has not been released.
Police said the suspect entered the Conoco Gas Station in the 10320 block of Bellefontaine Rd. sometime between 9 p.m. and 9:20 p.m. and shot Irshad Kahn before taking an undisclosed amount of money.
A patron of the gas station called 911 after finding the clerk lying on the floor unresponsive.
According to police, Kahn died from at least one gunshot wound.
Kahn, 63, was the owner and clerk of the gas station for more than 10 years. He was described by those who knew him as friendly and generous.
Authorities said they were holding a press conference Wednesday to release more details on the suspect’s arrest.
