(KMOV) – While it looks like we’re in store for a beautiful week weather-wise, we’ll have to first get through a Monday that’s expected to bring showers and storms to the St. Louis area.
Temperatures Monday started off near 70 degrees and were expected to reach highs in the mid-80s by the afternoon.
News 4 Meteorologist Kent Ehrhardt said a system moving in from the west will deliver showers and thunderstorms later in the day.
“Things will be slow to get popping over in the early afternoon hours but we’ll see more and more storm activity as the day moves on,” said Ehrhardt.
Some of those storms will present the possibility of strong winds and small hail.
A few showers and storms will linger through the evening, with the precipitation ending some time overnight.
“I would count on storms right through the evening commute and even lingering through much of the evening before tapering off overnight,” he said.
After that system moves out, the weather will clear, setting us up for sunny and mild conditions throughout the rest of the week.
