(KMOV.com) -- A 4-year-old boy was killed after being struck by a family member's vehicle in the Metro-East Saturday.
Granite City Police said Charles Collins was hit by a vehicle in the 60 block of Steele Drive around 6:30 p.m.
Collins was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police learned Collins was struck by a family member’s vehicle as they left Steele Drive. Police also indicated the child had run into the street where he was hit and do not believe the accident is criminal.
Granite City Police Maj. Jeff Connor calls the matter “just a tragic incident with a child apparently running in the street.” He says there’s no immediate indication of criminal wrongdoing.
