(KMOV)-- A St. Clair County Board of Review member is facing two felony charges after police say he verbally and physically assaulted a minor.
Kevin Malone, 51, of Freeburg, Illinois is charged with two counts of hate crime after he allegedly uttered racial slurs to the victim and grabbed him by his hair on July 8.
Bond for Malone was set at $30,000, and the judge ordered him to surrender any weapons in his possession.
Hate crimes are considered a class 4 felony. Malone could serve one to three years in prison or up to 30 months of probation, as well as lose his position on the board if found guilty.
