Drug companies warn not selling pseudoephedrine OTC will impact consumer wallets

(KMOV) – St. Charles County will soon be voting to stop selling pseudoephedrine over-the-counter to combat those who buy the drug for making meth.

The drug industry is warning customers that should the ban of over-the-counter purchase pseudoephedrine happen it will likely raise the cost for the drug.

Despite the Healthcare Products Association spending thousands of dollars on local ads, they argue that families will suffer when drugs like Sudafed require a prescription.

People who are against the ban claim individuals will clog doctor’s offices to get a prescription for current over-the-counter drugs and pay co-pays that they normally wouldn’t have to pay.
