St. Louis metropolitan police offer device to protect you from auto theft

(KMOV.com) -- The St. Louis Sixth District Metropolitan police department will be selling car clubs on Saturday, July 16th in an effort to deter car theft.

Officers will be in the parking lot of the Phillips 66 gas station at the corner of Union and Natural Bridge Road from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The clubs normally sell for $40 retail, but will be sold to citizens at a discounted rate of $13.  Clubs will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis and buyers should bring cash.

According to the department, auto theft is often a crime of opportunity for thieves.  When they see a vehicle that appears to be an easy target, they attack.  The club is a highly successful anti-theft device that has been show to deter car theft.

The event is open to everyone, regardless of residence.
