Police investigating attempted kidnapping in St. Charles

ST. CHARLES, Mo. (KMOV) - Police are investigating an attempted kidnapping at Fountain Lakes Park on Wednesday after a woman was threatened with a gun.

The victim, a white female, was jogging around the lake around 8 a.m. when she was reportedly accosted by a white male.  The victim said she saw the man standing next to the lake earlier that morning.

The man stepped onto the running trail in front of her and stood there as she approached.  The victim said he displayed a black handgun and told her she was coming with him and not to scream. 

The man placed a hand on the victim’s shoulder at which time she screamed and ran back toward the parking lot which is along Huster Road. 
Witnesses who heard her scream observed a subject matching her description leaving the area south in the direction of Elm and Hwy 370.
The man is described as a white male, late 20’s to early 30’s, 5’8” – 5’10”, 180 lbs, medium to heavy build, with wavy or curly hair and an un-kept beard/goatee with mustache. He is also described to have green eyes, glasses with clear lens with square frame, and freckles. 
At the time of the incident he was wearing a dark colored baseball style cap, white T-shirt with a gold circle logo on the front, dark red knee length shorts (basketball style) with a vertical white stripe on both legs.  He was carrying a small dark colored back pack.
