PHOENIX (AP) -- A former Phoenix middle-school music teacher accused of trying to arrange to have sex with dogs has been sentenced to one year of supervised probation.
The sentence was handed down Wednesday to 25-year-old Patrick Stephen Trejo, who was convicted of conspiring to have sexual contact with a dog.
Trejo and 47-year-old Keith D. Kiefer, of Mesa, Ariz., were arrested in February after they agreed to meet a dog handler at a hotel. Authorities say they used the Internet to connect with dog owners who offered their canines for sex.
Authorities say Trejo lost his teaching career as a result of his conviction and he's in the process of completing court-mandated counseling. Kiefer was sentenced last month to two years of supervised probation.
