CHARLESTON, S.C. (AP) -- Former House Speaker and Republican presidential candidate Newt Gingrich is continuing a two-day campaign visit to South Carolina, which holds the first GOP primary in the South.
Gingrich will speak Wednesday at a meeting of leaders of the state's electric cooperatives in Charleston.
It's his second visit to the state since he announced he's running for the GOP nomination for president. Gingrich plans to return to Iowa this weekend for more campaigning there.
Another GOP candidate, former U.S. Sen. Rick Santorum of Pennsylvania, will campaign Wednesday in Myrtle Beach before moving on to appearances in Spartanburg and Rock Hill.
