(KMOV) – The St. Louis County Planning Commission is proposing a new plan to help bring business back to Jamestown Mall.
County officials want to tear down the mall and build a new one that includes a mix of new stores in addition to residential and park areas.
Only two major department stores currently remain at Jamestown Mall and nearly half of its retail space is vacant.
Public and private consultants have been surveying the mall’s progress for the last two years and found that it is failing.
The County Council will vote Tuesday, July, 19, on what to do with the space.
Jamestown Mall is located at Lindbergh Boulevard and Highway 367 in north St. Louis County.
