(KMOV) – St. Louis County is installing new tornado sirens.
So far, 160 new sirens have been placed throughout the county and 25 more still need to be added.
All sirens should be installed by August.
Officials say the old sirens have been getting harder to repair and covered 70 percent of the county.
The new sirens will cover 95 percent.
Money earned from a sales tax increase that was proposed in 2009 will cover the cost of new sirens.
