ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- Two armed suspects have been charged with first degree robbery after leading police on a chase Monday morning.
According to officials, the incident happened around 2 a.m. at River City Casino after a man, identified as Kenneth Wilson, 19, armed with a handgun demanded money from a patron walking out of the casino. The man then jumped into a vehicle driven by another man, identified as Maurice Wilson, 25, and sped off. The victim was not hurt in the incident.
Officers say they spotted the suspect's vehicle after hearing reports of the robbery, and followed them onto Interstate 55, where they were driving the wrong way.
The chase ended at Route 3 and Rock Quarry Road in Columbia, Illinois after their vehicle crashed into a corn field.
The driver, Maurice Wilson, was immediately taken into custody after the accident, and is being treated at a local hospital. Kenneth Wilson was spotted a few miles down the road after fleeing the scene on foot.
Police used a helicopter and K-9 unit to locate Kenneth Wilson.
A $100,000 bond has been set for both suspects.
