Illinois man arrested after damaging farm

Edwardsville, Ill. (KMOV) - A man was charged with a felony Thursday, July 7 after damaging property at a local farm.

 Jamie R. Messina, 24, was arrested after officers responded to a report of damage at Brockmeier Sod Farm in Edwardsville around 6:50 a.m. He is being charged with Criminal Damage to Property over $300.
 
Officers responded after the owners of the farm arrived to work and found a truck stuck in one of their fields located a quarter mile from the roadway. It appeared that the truck was “off-roading” and caused damage to the field.
 
Police used the plate number on the truck to track it to Messina. He first to officers that his truck was stolen, but later admitted to driving it on the field when it became stuck.
 
Messina was taken into custody and held in the Madison County Jail pending formal charges.
 
The warrant and criminal information was signed against Messina by the Honorable Judge Charles Romani. Bond was set at $10,000.00
