ST. LOUIS (KMOV) – A second crash along Manchester Road in two days has raised concerns about safety in a south St. Louis neighborhood.
This time a driver hit several parked cars in the area known as The Grove, which lies on Manchester between Vandeventer and Kingshighway. The incident comes on the heels of the weekend hit-and-run that left a pedestrian dead.
The Missouri Department of Transportation has been in the area on a restriping project, trading four driving lanes for two. St. Louis police are also increasing patrols in that neighborhood, as it is a section of the city that is thriving with nightlife, but has also become dangerous.
Police say they are looking at lowering the speed limit, adding traffic lights and writing more tickets. Several meetings are scheduled to happen this week with MoDOT, the city and bar owners about controlling the crowds and traffic.
