Missouri candidates report raising about $2M

JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. (AP) -- Missouri candidates for statewide office report raising about $2 million in a single recent week.

Democratic Gov. Jay Nixon's campaign says it took in roughly $900,000 in the final week of the latest campaign finance reporting period, which ended June 30. Republican Lt. Gov. Peter Kinder, who's expected to run for governor next year, reports raising about $435,000 in the same one-week period.

The figures include contributions of more than $500, which must be reported within 48 hours of receipt. Full campaign finance reports for April through June are due to the Missouri Ethics Commission by July 15.

Among other Democratic officeholders, Attorney General Chris Koster reported collecting about $300,000 while Clint Zweifel (ZWY'-ful) raised $35,000 in the one-week period.

Republican House Speaker Steven Tilley plans to run for lieutenant governor and raised $230,000.
