Doggie vows bring cheer to Illinois nursing home

WHEATON, Ill. (AP) -- Wedding season has gone to the dogs.

Residents at a suburban Chicago nursing home witnessed the nuptials between two Chihuahuas last week. It was reported that nurse's aide, Cheryl Bobik, organized the quirky event as a fun activity for residents.

Groom Sparky Perez wore a tuxedo and bow tie when he wed his neighbor Peanut Bobik. She wore a fuchsia choker, white ball gown and tiara.

They were pronounced doggie and wife with more than 40 guests in attendance during the ceremony at the DuPage Convalescent Center in Wheaton.

It's not the first time Cheryl Bobik has done such an event. She once did a wedding for two teddy bears belonging to a resident. She's worked at center for more than two decades.
