(KMOV)-- Police have arrested two men suspected of breaking into nearly 20 cars throughout downtown St. Louis.

Calvin Willis and Michael Paynes have been charged with the crimes.

The men were spotted in a stolen car that police believe the suspects used during the break-ins that happened on June 29th.

Police said one suspect tried to take an officer's gun during the arrest.

Officers also think the suspects broke into cars west of Union Station, behind Maggie O'Briens.

Several identification and social security cards were found in the stolen car.
