ST. LOUIS, Mo. (KMOV) -- St. Louis Police say they are investigating two shootings that left two men dead Sunday night. While the scenarios on the two shootings sound similar, police say they do not believe they are related.
The first happened about 9:30 Sunday night at Lee Avenue and Grove Street in north St. Louis. Police say Montez Woods, 29, from St. Louis, was found lying on the sidewalk. He had been shot several times. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
About two hours later, another shooting was reported about ten miles south of the first location. This was in south St. Louis at Bates Street and Minnesota Avenue. The victim, George Hicks, Jr., 22, from north St. Louis County was shot "multiple times" and also pronounced dead at the scene.
A short time later police arrested a suspect they say was tampering with cars nearby, but say they do not believe the suspect was involved in the shooting at Bates and Minnesota.
