ST. LOUIS (KMOV.com) -- Police responded to a case of suspected animal abuse Saturday, just one block from the home where five dogs were found tortured and killed earlier this week.
Officers found the dog, a German Shepherd mix, tied up at a home in the 1400 block of Union Ave. Stray Rescue workers said the dog was about 25 pounds underweight, and had a collar tied excessively tight around his neck.
The dog was removed from a bathroom reportedly strewn with feces, and workers were not sure how long he had been locked in the room.
Police are still looking for the owner of the home, who could face animal abuse charges.
The dog is expected to be fine.
