GRANITE CITY, Ill. (KMOV.com) -- Officials have identified the man found dead inside a car that crashed into a Granite City church Saturday morning.
Officers were called to the Church of God and Christ in the 1200 block of Edwardsville Road just after 5:30 a.m. Police discovered a vehicle partially inside the church's "Fellowship Hall" building, and the driver dead.
Allen Bloodworth, 35, of Granite City was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.
Early reports indicate the vehicle was travelling northbound on Edwardsville Road when it crossed several lanes of traffic and struck the building. Police say they do not believe other vehicles were involved in the crash.
An autopsy revealed Bloodworth had extensive cardiac disease, but a final cause of death is still pending.
