HOUSTON – A day care was evacuated Friday as firefighters battled a 2-alarm fire that fully engulfed an old church in Pasadena.
The fire broke out at about 3 p.m. in the 3500 block of Red Bluff.
The church has been at the location for 50 years and was closed several years ago, then converted to a funeral home, according to Pasadena police spokesman Vance Mitchell.
It's not clear if the funeral home was still operating.
The Klazzy Kidz Day Care, which is located next to the building, was evacuated as firefighters battled the blaze.
No injuries were reported.
The Houston Fire Department assisted the Pasadena Fire Department in extinguishing the fire.
The fire was still burning at 4 p.m. The cause will be investigated once it's under control.
