AUGUSTA, Missouri (KMOV)—A home was severely damaged after a two-alarm fire broke out early Tuesday morning in Augusta, Missouri.

Firefighters responded to the intersection of Heger Court and Highway 94 just after 6 a.m. and found heavy flames on the outside of a house.

Crews from New Melle, Marthasville and Washington were called to the scene and helped put out the blaze after about four hours. The home suffered extensive damage to the exterior, according to officials.

A man who was inside the house when the fire started suffered minor burns while trying to put it out. He was expected to be OK.

Authorities said the fire has been considered suspicious. The state fire marshall has been called to the scene to investigate.
