ST. LOUIS ( -- Police are on the look out for a male suspect after an attempted robbery that turned into a double shooting in north St. Louis Monday night.
Authorities said the shooting happened in the 4000 block of Lexington Avenue around 9:30 p.m.
One victim, a 34-year-old man, told police he and another person were standing in front of a car when a dark-colored SUV stopped near them.  Someone reportedly got out of the stopped vehicle and approached the victim and demanded money.
The 34-year-old man struggled with the suspect for a short time and then tried to run away.  While fleeing, the suspect pulled out a gun and started shooting.  The victim was struck in the thigh and buttocks.
Police said the second victim, a 38-year-old man, witnessed the attempted robbery.  Officials did not say if that person was in a car or in a nearby home, but said he came out to investigate after seeing the struggle and got shot in the foot.
Both victims were taken to a St. Louis-area hospital, where doctors indicated they were in satisfactory condition.
Police are now looking for the suspect and the suspect's vehicle.  The suspect was described as a black male in his 20's.
Anyone with information on the shooting is asked to call local authorities.
