HILLSDALE, Missouri (KMOV) -- Police responded to a home in Hillsdale on Monday after a man chased three people in his neighborhood with a large knife.
Police said the 56-year-old man barricaded himself inside the home in the 2100 block of 67th Street around 12:30 p.m. after he chased around a female neighbor and two city workers with a machete.
Authorities on the scene called the suspect several times on the phone, but he would not answer. They then tried contacting him using a megaphone.
Officers eventually entered the home with shields up and guns drawn and brought him out. He was handcuffed and taken into custody.
“They did apprehend the suspect without incident in a bed room,” said Lt. Her Simmons with Hillsdale police. “We did retrieve the weapon in the house. At this time the subject will be transported and we’ll apply for warrants.”
It was still unclear what spurred the man’s behavior, but police say he has a criminal past.
Additional details were not immediately available.
