SCOTT AIR FORCE BASE, Illinois (KMOV) -- Officials were sweeping Scott Air Force Base on Friday after a disgruntled former employee threatened to bomb one of its buildings.
Officials said the former female employee walked into the base’s clinic building and threatened to blow it up. She then left and was found a short time later in the base’s wing command building. She was taken to security forces.
Authorities said it is not believed she had any explosive device when the threat was made, but base personnel decided to do a sweep of the clinic as a precaution. Crews eventually cleared the scene after determining there was no explosive.
Officials said the clinic was the only facility on the military base that was affected. All other facilities were operating normally.
Because of the ongoing sweep, bus traffic at the base school was re-routed from the usual gate.
