BELLEVILLE, Illinois (KMOV) -- Police are searching for a man who robbed a credit union in Belleville on Wednesday.
According to police, the suspect walked into the Catholic and Community Credit Union in the 6100 block of West Main Street around 11 a.m. and handed the teller a note demanding money.
The suspect, who didn’t show a weapon, was given an unknown amount of cash and fled the bank on foot.
Police said the suspect had earlier been seen at a credit union in Cahokia acting suspicious, but did not rob the bank.
The suspect was described as a black man in his mid-20s with short braided hair. He weighs about 180 pounds and was wearing blue jeans, a light blue button down dress shirt and a tan fuzzy hat.
Anyone with information on the suspect is asked to call Crimestoppers at 1-800-371-8477. A reward of up to $1,000 could be given for information leading to an arrest.
