East St. Louis police chief calls assault accusations against his officers 'disturbing'

EAST ST. LOUIS, Il. (KMOV) -- Police Chief Michael Floore says the allegations against 2 of his officers are “disturbing.”  Two officers are accused of assaulting a woman while they worked the overnight shift into Tuesday morning.  Chief Floore asked the Illinois State Police to investigate.  So far no one is sharing the nature of the allegations.

“It's a disturbing to hear allegation,” said Floore.  “And my job is to make sure that these guys are doing what they're supposed to do, doing their jobs professionally and correctly. If there is some type of misconduct we'll find it out.”

Chief Floore stressed that these are allegations at this point.  He placed the officers on administrative leave during the investigation.

ISP Captain Jim Morrisey tells News 4 the woman did not seek medical attention due to the assault.  She reported the assault to ESLPD on Tuesday.  Morrisey expects to release more information early next week.
