2 East St. Louis police officers accused of assaulting woman

EAST ST. LOUIS, Il. (KMOV) -- A woman says 2 East St. Louis Police Officers assaulted her.  Illinois State Police are now investigating.  ISP Captain Jim Morrisey says the officers were working the overnight shift into Tuesday morning at the time of the incident.  The woman showed up at the East St. Louis Police Department on Tuesday to make the complaint. 

Chief Michael Floore tells News 4 he placed the officers on administrative leave and asked ISP to investigate.  Chief Floore confirmed the assault accusation but would not talk about the nature of the assault.  Captain Morrisey says right now they are trying to figure out exactly what happened and won’t release any more details for a few days.

The officers’ names have not been released because they have not been charged in the incident.
