Missouri lawmakers approve vote on tax to improve Arch

ST. LOUIS (KMOV) -- Lawmakers in Missouri have approved a bill that paves the way for a regional vote on funding for the Gateway Arch.

The bill allows the St. Louis City Board of Aldermen and the county councils in St. Louis and St. Charles counties to ask voters to approve a 3/6th of one cent sales tax.

The money raised would go toward a more than $500 million improvement plan for the arch.

The bill now goes to Governor Jay Nixon to sign in to law.
